After enduring war and violence, half of displaced Syrian and Iraqi children will also be deprived of an education due to a lack of access to schools. Hope + Future International is an organization that assists those children and provides long-term sustainable solutions to this growing crisis.
Matt DePretis will be hosting a “TED-talk” style presentation at Inklings Coffee on Thursday, May 23 at 7:00pm to hear Jessica Binzoni, the Founder and Executive Director of Hope + Future International. Jessica, who grew up in Pleasanton now lives in Iraq, just arrived in town this week. She presented at Rotary on Thursday, and you will not be disappointed in hearing her tell us what is actually happening in Iraq!

Join us for a movie night to help raise funds for the Ensenada Mission Trip. Dennis Hollenbeck, our missionary from Ensenada, Mexico will be there and will share with us about how God is using racing to support Mi Casa de Esperanza ("Casa"); a shelter for battered women and their children.
The movie we will watch is "Dust 2 Glory" a documentary in which Dennis, his race car "Bochita", and Casa were featured. Bochita will even make a special appearance! Clips will be shown during the first half of the evening which is appropriate and fun for all ages. The full movie will be shown from 8:15-10PM and is rated PG-13.
Our desires often cause us problems, yet our desires also offer much promise. The nature of our soul is to have unlimited desires, and our desires often work against the life of the Spirit in us. Yet, God is the ultimate source of our desires, and our soul’s infinite capacity to desire is the mirror image of God’s infinite capacity to give.
Our desires direct our life far more than our will, as our will has very limited power. Learning to will God’s way begins with learning to attend to God’s presence. Christian spirituality is not about the crucifixion of desires but rather about the realignment of our desires by turning our hearts to the Source of all desires. We will explore the transformation of our will by examining why our desires are “disordered” and how our human wills can be brought into alignment with God’s intentions so that we willingly choose that which God wants for us.
This retreat is the tenth in a series of one-day retreats to help us deepen our intimacy with God. Pastor Sid will lead the retreat, and it will take place at John and Janet Moore’s home.
The Stations of the Cross experience is a way for us to have a physical representation of the journey that Jesus took in His final hours. It is a time to reflect with reverence and meditate on Christ's sacrifice for us. It is divided into eight stations from the time He was condemned to His crucifixion. Every station will provide you with something tangible to interact with on your journey.
You are invited to see, to touch, and to think. Our great hope is this will be an interactive experience that will cultivate a deeper sense of appreciation for what Jesus endured for those He loves.
We will have two options to attend, between 12pm and 2pm, as well as 6pm and 8pm. Come at any point during those time frames to walk the stations.

To help us prepare for Easter this year, we will be offering a devotional guide Through John’s Eyes.
This guide will help us to accompany Jesus in his suffering during Holy Week by following his disciple, John. In ten short devotionals, we will trace the arc of John’s life from a zealous, proud disciple to the writer of his epistles that relentlessly focus on God’s love. This “Unhurried Life” class will introduce the guide, suggest how best to use it, and then engage in the first two devotionals.

WE ALL NEED A WAY THROUGH.
A way through the heartache. A way through the confusion. A way through the anxiety. A way through the darkness. A way through the wreckage of our past actions. Easter is the great, history-changing declaration that the ultimate way through is not just a vain wish, but a present reality.
Jesus lived and died, rising again to be our way through death and the way of true life. Easter tells the story of a good God who opens graves and brings the joy of a new life. Join us as we celebrate the resurrection of King Jesus and see how the story of Easter is the exodus out of death.
Come early or stay late for a free pancake breakfast that will be served from 8:30-11:30 AM.
Children's programs will be provided for 10:00 AM & 11:30 AM services (0-5 years old).
Join us for a weekend getaway at Koinonia Conference Grounds in the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains! We will be spending the weekend hanging out with each other, doing fun activities, taking an opportunity to get away from our typical routines, and most importantly, to intentionally make ourselves available to the ways that God is building a relationship with us.
Our theme for this years weekend is “Purpose",” and we’ll be asking one big question: What is God’s purpose for me?
Also, there’s laser tag. In the woods. Jake and Kevin will win.
Have you ever wondered how to maintain a healthy balance between caring for others and caring for yourself? Teagan Darnell, a Marriage and Family Therapist in our community, will consider the example of Jesus in illuminating a Christ-centered balance between empathy and boundaries. Join us! Childcare and lunch will be provided.
