Disability Ministry at VCC is not merely a program, but a ministry dedicated to seeing the body of Christ embrace all of its members. That means disability ministry is an every member mission. The Disability Team therefore exists first and foremost to make sure that the regular life of the church (Sundays and comGroups) are accessible to all, because God’s ability is glorified and the body of Christ flourishes when disabled members are both served and able to serve others by exercising their unique spiritual gifts.
Sundays 9AM & 10:45AM | Elementary – 18
We long to include children and students with special needs in their age group in our Children’s or Student Ministry. However, when that isn’t possible, the Friendship Class meets in the back portable for Bible lessons, crafts, music, and friendship. If you are joining us for the first time, we request that you accompany them so we can get to know your family better so that we can best serve you and your child.
If you have any questions, reach out to Kris Volkir at firstname.lastname@example.org or (925) 846-6622.
Fridays | Adults
Friday Friends is a Bible study and fellowship group for adults 18 and over with developmental disabilities. The meetings are held on the first and third Fridays of each month from mid-September through June upstairs in the Seminar Room at VCC. Each meeting starts at 6PM with a free dinner at 6:15PM followed by a prayer, Bible study, and other games and activities. Special events are also scheduled throughout the year.
Fall Kick-Off: September 20, 2019 through June 5, 2020 (6-8PM)
For additional information and/or to reserve a spot, contact Kris Volkir at email@example.com or call her at 925.846.6622.
We offer Respite Saturday events to families affected by disability. We serve children ages 4-13 and their siblings, allowing parents a few hours of respite to recharge and reconnect with one another. These events are free and open to the public.
NEXT RESPITE EVENT: November 16, 2019
Volunteer with Disability Ministry
All of our wonderful volunteers can attest to the rich and unique blessing of serving those with disabilities and their families. Whether it is on Sunday mornings, every other Friday evening, or a couple times a year on a Respite Saturday, we would love to train you to thrive as a servant of Christ in this crucial ministry.
