Foster Care Awareness Month

Foster Care Awareness Month

  • Valley Community Church (map)

May is Foster Care Awareness Month.

It's a sobering reality that more children enter foster care than there are families available to care for them. Statistics paint a grim picture, showing that over half of domestically recovered child sex trafficking victims come from foster care backgrounds, and youth in foster care are twice as likely to develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

We've united with churches across California and Foster the City not just to raise awareness but also to invite you to join us in prayer. Together, seeking our Heavenly Father to raise up foster families within VCC and raise up Support Friends.

Will you join us in prayer throughout May, asking God to raise up at least one foster family within VCC? You can also utilize our daily prayer guide to lead you through your time of intercession. Check out the missions table in the lobby ALL MONTH IN MAY for more information.

Hope Fest

Hope Fest

Join us at Hope Fest for an unforgettable evening of connection, storytelling, and music, bringing the hope of the gospel to the Tri-Valley.

You’ll hear an evangelistic message from Pastor Joe, translated into Spanish by Pastor Martin from CF Espanol Church in Livermore. Our prayer is to reach the unchurched and dechurched neighbors in both English and Spanish-speaking communities.

You’ll also experience firsthand the journey of hope in Christ and resilience from Hollywood legend "Zoro the Drummer," as he shares the inspiring story of his mother in his new book, 'Maria's Scarf.' Witness the power of hope as Zoro takes the stage to share his story and showcase his incredible drumming talent. Don't miss out on this opportunity to be uplifted and encouraged!

What others are saying about Zoro's book and story:

“I can’t recall ever reading a book when I just wanted to stand up and cheer again and again, but that’s how Zoro’s memoir affected me. If I could, I would give this book to every young person in the world. Besides being just a great story of a life well-led, it is also a manual on how to succeed against the greatest of odds.” - Homer Hickam, New York Times bestselling author of Rocket Boys/October Sky

”Zoro’s memoir will make you believe anything is possible.” - Dave Ramsey, Bestselling author

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. -1 Cor. 3:6-11

Fighting Shadows | An Evening for Men with Author & Pastor Jon Tyson

In light of increasing awareness regarding the detrimental effects of toxic masculinity and patriarchal systems, these issues have become prominent topics in our conversations. As societal attitudes evolve, some individuals cling to outdated stereotypes, further exacerbating tensions and confusion, while others find themselves unsure of how to navigate this cultural shift effectively.

Consequently, many men may feel overwhelmed, grappling with the fear of inadvertently offending others, uncertain about how to channel their ambitions and strengths constructively, and contending with the conflicting messages of a highly sexualized culture

However, amidst these challenges, there is hope for men seeking clarity and resilience in today's complex landscape.

We are pleased to announce an upcoming event featuring Jon Tyson, who will offer invaluable insights and strategies for confronting the shadows and temptations that confront modern men. Attendees will have the opportunity to gain tools to embrace masculinity as a divine blessing, rather than a burden to be resisted.

All participants will receive a copy of the book "Fighting Shadows: Overcoming 7 Lies That Keep Men From Becoming Fully Alive" authored by Jon Tyson and Jefferson Bethke.

This event serves as a compelling call to men everywhere: it is time to embrace the transformative vision of Jesus and step boldly into your God-given identity as a man.

The Apostles' Creed | New Series Beginning

BEGINNING SUNDAY 4.7.24 | 9AM & 11AM

Creeds? Who needs them? The very word "creed" sounds rather dusty and joyless. And in a world that holds deep distrust in organizations and positions of authority, the word "creed" has a bitter taste to many people. But this doesn't have to be the case. More so, it should not be the case for followers of Jesus. See, a creed is essentially an identity document, a summarization of what it is that we believe about reality, what/who we have entrusted ourselves to, and who we are as a people. The Apostles' Creed is one of the oldest and widely acknowledged creeds of the historic Christian faith. Simply put, it is a summary of the basic beliefs of the Christian faith put forward in twelve statements of affirmation. The Apostle's Creed is a gift given to us, that we may say in one voice, with the historic and global church, that we are followers of Jesus Christ. Join us for this important twelve-part series as we learn from the Scriptures about the basics of the biblical faith and the ever-deepening joy of knowing God!

Easter Sunday

EASTER | The Gospel of Luke 24v1-12

This hope-filled yet haunting question rings down through history, now asking each of us to take a turn at answering it. On Easter morning some 2000 years ago, the question was asked: "Why do you seek the living among the dead?" The angels in the empty tomb asked this profound question to the broken-hearted followers of Jesus who came to grieve their crucified rabbi. But their crucified rabbi was not there, for He was not just an incredible teacher, but also the Lord of Life whom death could not hold. And now the question comes to each of us:why do we look for the living among the dead? Why do we look for life in places that can never give us True Life? Why do we look for love, peace, and joy in all the wrong places? Join us this Easter as we see and celebrate Jesus as the one who brings True Life to a groaning and confused world.

ADDITIONAL EASTER DETAILS

Anchored our High School Ministry will be hosting a Sunrise Service at 6:30AM on the top of the Parking Garage. (All are welcome to attend this special service)

The Stations of the Cross experience is a way for us to have a physical representation of the journey that Jesus took in His final hours. It is a time to reflect with reverence and meditate on Christ's sacrifice for us. It is divided into nine stations from the time He was condemned to His crucifixion. Every station will provide you with something tangible to interact with on your journey.

You are invited to see, to touch, and to think. Our great hope is this will be an interactive experience that will cultivate a deeper sense of appreciation for what Jesus endured for those He loves.

We will have two options to attend, between 11AM and 1PM, as well as 4PM and 7PM. Come at any point during those time frames to walk the stations.

Faithfulness regardless of our circumstances. That is what it means to be steadfast. But in a world where so much can undermine our faith or pull us off track, steadfastness is often a rare and elusive trait. The book of James meets us in our suffering and sickness, our trials and temptations, our wealth and poverty, our ups and downs. It encourages believers to have a more resilient and concrete faith: not just to hear the word, but to do it. This study will call us to persevere in truth in a world of lies, to see that God’s steadfast love is ultimately the source of our steadfast faith.

Join the us for this upcoming study, running 2.13 thru 4.11. Registration is required to participate and the book will be included in the registration fee. For more information on meeting options and registration click the link below.
